What made you choose your particular business? An organizer on TV inspired me years and years ago, having no idea it was a thing, but it seemed like a pipe dream. In 2007, I really needed to make a change and the stars aligned for me to try turning organizing from a hobby helping friends into a possible career. And here we are 13 years later! It combines my desire to be a force for good with people, my appreciation for beauty and order, and my enjoyment of problem-solving and variety in my work.
Where are you located? We’re based in Williamsburg, VA, but we serve everywhere within an hour radius. I personally also serve clients in Washington, D.C., Chicago, and elsewhere and love traveling to help people.
When did you open? The first paying client was in August 2007!
What are your specials for the month? We’re doing a unique no-buy gift exchange in December; the details are on the social media pages.
Tell us what makes your business special. Because I work with every client myself at this point, even if a second organizer is helping, my personal attention and skillset is what makes this business different. I’ve learned how to combine a problem-solving, goal-oriented drive with a compassionate coach mentality that really helps break up the ways people get stuck. And having grown up in the area, I bring the resources I’ve gathered my whole life to each client – ways to get specific help, places that can use castoffs that can’t go to a thrift store, etc.

What’s new on the horizon? I’ve been noodling the idea of team sessions where I bring a handyman, cleaning person, etc. along with me to have a “Get it Done Day.” With a little planning, I think we could knock out a bunch of pesky tasks and repairs that tend to drag on and on in all of our houses. Think of hanging a shelf, fixing a broken lamp, deep-cleaning the garage fridge, etc., in one super-productive day.
I don't know about you guys, but Move VA Team believes that Jen's professional services would be a lovely gift for a loved one that has everything...totally no pun intended. Seriously, who couldn't use this service?
